Ansel Wong
Ansel migrated from Trinidad to the UK in 1965 to earn, learn and then return. He earned, learnt but did not return.
For the past 57 years, he has had an extensive engagement with Britain as a combatant, advocate and beneficiary.
As an Arsenal supporting pensioner, he is currently Trustee of The Carnival Village Trust, Director of Notting Hill Carnival Limited, Director of East Midlands Caribbean Carnival Network, Vice-Principal of Savile Row Academy, Member of the Windrush Commemoration Committee & the DCMS Events & Entertainment Working Group.
In a recent Time Out feature in October 2018, Ansel was adjudged one of 50 Great Londoners: the 5th .
He has been prominent in promoting the arts & culture of the Caribbean through his activism and creation of community organisations & was awarded the CBE in October 2020 in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to art & culture.
